Our church is about to become intimately familiar with the term "Zoom."
Zoom is a video conferencing system that will allow us to communicate remotely during this period of social distancing.
How Zoom Works
Zoom works for those with a computer, smartphone, tablet, or plain ol' telephone. The options for each
are below. If you use a telephone then you can listen to audio only. With the others and an internet connection, you have the option of watching video as well. We will be using Zoom to stream our Sunday worship service and to hold interactive meetings and Bible studies. Below are the instructions on how to Zoom. This information will also be posted on the FPC website.
Words of Advice for Zoom
1. Wear pants. If you have video enabled and you have a cam on your laptop or phone or tablet, other meeting participants can see you.
2. Mute your mic. Other folk in the meeting can hear you as well and background
noises can be very distracting. Zoom has an option to mute the mic. Unmute to speak.
(For worship streaming, all mics will automatically be muted.)
3. Relax. We are all learning how to do this and we'll all get better at it.
1. Zoom Video Conferencing via Computer:
To access our “Zoom Meeting”
for Sunday worship using your laptop or desktop computer, click
. When you click this link, Zoom should automatically download
an app/program that will take you dire
ctly to our live stream. Before joining the live stream, Zoom will give you the option to join with or without video. If you join with video, all the other participants can see your video stream.
(So wear pants.)
2. Zoom Video Conferencing via Smartphone or Tablet:
To access Zoom via your tablet or smartphone, download the Zoom app from the iTunes or Google Play store. After the app has downloaded, click the app and then select “Join a Meeting” on the Zoom App homescreen. Then enter our meeting ID: 959 167 376. Click “Join.” You will be able to join the worship service with video or without video, depending on your preference (Note: Other participants can see your video stream if you join with video). After selecting your preference, you will automatically join the meeting.
3. Zoom Video Conferencing via landline or cellphone:
If you do not have access to a device that allows you to view video online, you can use your telephone
or cell phone to call into the worship service. This option allows you to hear the audio from the service, but does not allow you to see the video footage. To call in, dial
1-312-626-6799. Then enter the meeting number 959 167 376#. You will then be asked to enter a participant ID or press #. Just press # and you will be in the meeting.
4. Facebook Live:
To access the service via Facebook Live, login to Facebook. Then search “First Presbyterian Church Lebanon” or click this link to be directed to our page. Our first post on Sunday should be our Livestream. (Note: On Facebook Live you will be able to comment throughout worship, but you will not be able to see other people’s video feed like you would be able to on Zoom; Zoom is the more communal option.)
