The VanGoes

The VanGoes is the name for an occasional outing of folks from FPC to various points of interest around Middle Tennessee and beyond. These are normally day trips that include lunch. Past VanGoes destinations are listed below. The trips are free except for admission tickets and meals. To sign up, contact the church office.

•Falcon Rest Mansion
The August VanGoes excursion will be to the Falcon Rest Mansion in McMinnville. The trip includes a tour of the mansion with lunch plus the interactive "Murder at the Mansion" show. We'll depart at 9:30 a.m. and return around 3:30 p.m. The cost will be $35.

•South Union Shaker Museum
•Chaney’s Dairy Barn
The VanGoes are heading over the border to Auburn, Kentucky, to tour the South Union Shaker Museum. We’ll leave at 9:00 am and return about 2:30 pm. At the Museum we will begin with a 20 minute introduction by a staff member and then proceed on a self-guided tour. When we are done at the Museum we’ll drive over to Chaney’s Dairy Barn for lunch (burgers and sandwiches). Please note that Chaney’s is a working dairy farm so you’ll want to save room for their homemade ice cream. We should get back home about 2:30 pm.

The two special exhibits are Knights in Armor which showcases stunning examples of European arms and armor from the renowned collection of the Museo Stibbert in Florence, Italy, and Lights, Space, Surface, an exhibition which includes sculptures, paintings, and immersive installations by a loose-knit group of artists working in Southern California from the 1960s to the present.
